Weir House is operated by Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. Popular with first-year students. There are single rooms, set rooms (adjoining single rooms with a shared door to the hallway), and twin-share rooms.
Weir House is a residential college of Victoria University of Wellington, located in the city of Wellington in New Zealand. It is home to over 160 undergraduates, and is the second oldest of the residential colleges, after Victoria House .
Weir House was a milestone in the development of Victoria University, an institution that only been opened 30 years earlier. The university’s hostels (more were to follow) play a key role in introducing school leavers to university life and Weir House is the oldest surviving of these institutions.
In 2008, Victoria University celebrated Weir House’s 75th birthday. Weir House was overseen by a committee of Council and by a Warden, initially appointed from the University's teaching staff. The Council Committee ceased in c2003.

The origins of Weir House are shrouded in mystery and financial wrangling. The mystery begins with the founder himself. No-one seems to have known who he was, the nature of his con-nection with the College, and just why he should have left so much money to found a residential hostel.
