Hancock approved, and after hearing scratching for the first time on Malcolm McLaren’s track, “Buffalo Gals,” he found his curiosity about this radical innovation mirrored in the demo tapes that Material’s prime members, Bill Laswell and Michael Beinhorn, played for Hancock.
