John DeGroff is a Christian musician. DeGroff was one of the original members of Christian rock band Petra in 1972, along with Greg Hough, Bill Glover and Bob Hartman. He played bass guitar on the band's first two records (Petra and Come and Join Us) before leaving in 1979.

John DeGroff (born September 3, 1953; age 70) is an American musician and bassist. He was one of the founding members of Petra and its first bassist. He was a member of Petra from 1972 to 1978.

As the band’s original bass guitarist, he played on the first two albums-the self titled “Petra” (1974) and its follow up “Come And Join Us” (1977). After leaving Petra in 1978, DeGroff stayed active musically.
