The Temptations' new lineup, consisting of Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Theo Peoples, and newcomers Harry McGilberry and Terry Weeks, toured throughout 1997, and was featured in the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXII in early 1998, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of Motown.
The album, Phoenix Rising, released in 1998, featuring the debut of Terry Weeks, a lead vocalist for the group then and now, becomes The Temptations’ first platinum album in more than 20 years. It wins the Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Album by a Duo or Group (1999) and the single, “Stay” is a “Top 30” R&B, hit single.
