In 1990, Rounder Records issued the 1972 sessions as More a Legend Than a Band . The three musicians continued to reunite for occasional Flatlanders performances. In 1998 they contributed to the soundtrack of The Horse Whisperer, and then in 2002 released their follow-up album, Now Again, on New West Records.

When this album first appeared in 1972, “All American Music” was pasted on the cover, although saying that it ‘appeared’ is quite an exaggeration of the actual circumstances.
Rumors, speculation, and bootlegs swirled until 1990, when Rounder Records reissued the group’s original recordings under the particularly fitting title More A Legend Than A Band. This time around, The Flatlanders received their due, with critics hailing them as visionaries and craftsmen of the highest caliber.
