At high frequencies, the ability to magnetize is further reduced. At the same time tape noise increases.

The Akai GX-77 is an open-reel deck designed to use both conventional and the new EE (Extra Efficiency) chrome-type tapes, and it is the first of these units I have had an opportunity to test.
