They gigged for a couple of years before John Ashton joined as a second guitarist. The 1979 lineup, which remained until 1982, also replaced Wilson with Vince Ely on drums.

  6. 28 de nov. de 2018 · They eventually settled on ‘The Psychedelic Furs’ as a nod to the Velvet Underground song, “Venus in Furs.” In 1979, Vince Ely replaced Wilson on drums and John Ashton was added on guitar. The six-piece band entered the studio with producer Steve Lillywhite to record their first album.

The album also features alternate cover art for the US release—artwork that displeased Richard Butler so much he burst into tears.
