Tysoe Hancock. Tysoe Saul Hancock (December 1723 – 5 November 1775) was an English surgeon who served the English East India Company in the Madras Presidency. His daughter Eliza (later Eliza de Feuillide, still later Eliza Austen) was referred to as the "exotic cousin" by Jane Austen.

This painting, now known as Tysoe Saul Hancock, his wife Philadelphia, their daughter Elizabeth and their Indian maid Clarinda was previously misidentified as George Clive and his Family with an Indian Maid is an oil painting by Joshua Reynolds. It measures 140 cm x 171 cm (67.3 in x 55.1 in). It was painted in 1765.
28 de jun. de 2021 · Tysoe Hancock, Rev Austen’s brother-in-law, who was perpetually plagued with financial struggles himself, and only one child, wrote to his wife Philadelphia (living in England) in September of 1772 in reply to the news of Henry Austen’s birth in 1771:
