Woolly Wolstenholme took his own life in December 2010, having apparently struggled with depression for many years. [9] The two derivatives of Barclay James Harvest continue to record and tour to this day, and enjoy ongoing popularity, particularly in Germany, France, and Switzerland.
Woolly Wolstenholme. Composer, lyricist, arranger and orchestrator. Born in Chadderton, Oldham on April 15th, 1947, and went to school at North Chadderton Secondary Modern. Founder member of Barclay James Harvest in 1967, and remained with the band until 1979.
Maestoso is Woolly Wolstenholme's first solo album, released just after he had left Barclay James Harvest. In many ways Woolly was the most progressively inclined member of that band and when he left they soon drifted towards more commercial territory (but then again, so did most bands in the 80's).
