Ligertwood was born in Drumchapel, Glasgow, Scotland. Career. He is best known as the lead vocalist of Santana, with five different stints from 1979 to 1994, which included the US Festival in 1982. He is credited on songs by Santana such as "All I Ever Wanted", "You Know That I Love You", "Winning" and "Hold On".
His voice is recognized literally the world over as the lead vocalist of Santana. Over 16 years with Carlos, Alex Ligertwood provided his unique sound and interpretation on 12 albums. He earned Gold Records for four of those Santana efforts, and scored Top 40 hits with six albums and/or singles.
