Apes are going to be a vaguely horror-themed riff-rock band whether you like it or not, and more power to 'em.
5 de feb. de 2008 · Before Ghost Games, The Apes made concept albums—wild and fantastic epics in which the band imagined themselves as magical crusaders and conjured bizarre visions of twisted enlightenment. These strange tales were held down by the dark and murky pummel of booming drums, fuzzed-out bass or baritone guitar, and dense organ.
With a sound that resembles what would happen if Tony Iommi played organ rather than guitar in Black Sabbath, the Apes have been playing throughout their native of Washington, D.C., since their formation in 1999.
Forgoing lead guitar for shambling, sinister organ licks, DC post-punk outfit the Apes strike a strange middle-ground between minimalism and maximalism.
