Containing no less than 25 tracks, Basher: The Best of Nick Lowe is an excellent overview of Lowe's solo career, detailing how he evolved from a quirky, innovative new wave pop craftsman to a fine roots rocker.
His fast and rough production style earned him the nickname "Basher" and also established the D.I.Y. aesthetics of punk. During the heyday of new wave, Lowe co-led Rockpile with Dave Edmunds, with the pair regularly appearing on each other's solo albums into the early '80s.
