This record is a collection of songs I just naturally learned and loved in my early years of playing and singing. Woody said that he wanted to be known as "the man who told you something you already knew". And for me, this is a clue into the beauty and the genius of Woody Guthrie.

In the 80s I produced an album of Woody’s son Joady Guthrie singing his own original songs. This was released on my own label Rag Baby and was titled Spies On Wall Street. Preparing for the Steinbeck Center event I discovered in my archives much Woody stuff I had not thought of in years.
