    John William Tuttle (1837-1827) was a Wayne County, Kentucky, lawyer before the Civil War. During the war, he spent most of his time in Company H of the 3rd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. Promoted to the rank of Captain by the end of the war, Tuttle saw action at the battles of Shiloh, Lookout Mountain, and Atlanta.
