Neil Conti Prefab Sprout are an English pop/rock band from Witton Gilbert , County Durham who rose to fame during the 1980s. Formed in 1978 [5] by brothers Paddy and Martin McAloon and joined by vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player Wendy Smith in 1982, they released their debut album Swoon to critical acclaim in 1984.
31 de ene. de 2022 · It was named after Paddy McAloon’s new home studio, an indication that this was a more lo-fi sound than before. Paddy produced the album, drummer Neil Conti had left and it can be seen as a precursor to I Trawl The Megahertz, with instrumental passages appearing alongside more traditional songs.

Listening to just one example of their work, the 1990 album Jordan: The Comeback, you can really hear the breadth and depth of Neil’s sound.
