Turnage recomposed and orchestrated original compositions by jazz guitarist John Scofield for symphony orchestra and big band to which the title refers (SCOfield ORCHstratED). Scofield was part of the project together with John Patitucci on electric bass and Peter Erskine on drums.
In 1986 he joined the John Scofield band. Since then he has played with most of the major figures in jazz fusion music.
