15 de dic. de 2023 · Our Top 10 Montrose Songs list looks at a rocking band that served as a showcase for the sensational guitar work of band leader Ronnie Montrose. The group also helped launch the career of vocalist and red rocker Sammy Hagar. The band first formed in 1973.
Montrose then shifted direction and released a solo album, the all-instrumental Open Fire (1978) with Edgar Winter producing. In 1979, Montrose formed Gamma with vocalist Davey Pattison at the recommendation of fellow Scotsman James Dewar bassist/vocalist for Robin Trower.
The original Montrose lineup, consisting of Ronnie Montrose on guitar, Sammy Hagar (then known as Sam Hagar) on lead vocals, Bill Church on bass, and Denny Carmassi on drums, was formed in early 1973 after Ronnie Montrose decided to leave the Edgar Winter Group.
