Tommy is a soundtrack album by The Who with contributions from numerous artists. The soundtrack was used in the 1975 Tommy film that was based on the original album that was released by The Who in 1969.
Theres an interesting selection of vocalists, including Oliver Reed, Jack Nicholson, Tina Turner, Ann-Margret and Elton John, whose spin through ‘Pinball Wizard’ with his own stage band is the albums highlight and which became a hit single in 1975.
The film and its soundtrack album featured six new songs, all written by Townshend, and an alteration to the running order compared to the original album. The CD reissue of the film soundtrack also included an additional Overture.
