31 de jul. de 2014 · She was introduced to drummer Elissa Bello and the two of them started the first incarnation of the band, briefly called The Misfits (no connection to Glenn Danzig’s early band in New Jersey), in 1978 with—according to Elissa—Margot choosing guitarist Jane Wiedlin and singer Belinda Carlisle.
Conformada por Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Margot Olavarría y Gina Shock (quien reemplazó a Elissa Bello a partir de 1979), The Go-Go's lanzaron su primer sencillo y –el más popular hasta la fecha– en 1980, titulado “We got the beat”.
Formado en 1978, el grupo originalmente integraba a Belinda Carlisle (vocales), Jane Wiedlin (guitarra, vocales), Charlotte Caffey (guitarra principal, teclados), Margot Olavarría (bajo), y Elissa Bello (batería).
