Eels have had a number of lineup changes supporting E since their formation, and in recent years the live band has often differed from the musicians on the albums. Koool G Murder has been credited on bass and production on recent albums, although Big Al has fulfilled the role of bassist during the live shows.

I AM THE MESSIAH, a record made in the summer of 2000 by the EELS' favorite Silver Lake DJ, MC HONKY was finally released (after being released in Australia in 2002). E, Koool G Murder, Joey Waronker and others helped out on the disc.
Everett would occasionally email tracks to his bandmate Koool G Murder, asking for his input and if he wanted to contribute. Parish then flew to Los Angeles, working on most of the album in Everett's studio with Koool G Murder.
