Fritz Mannheimer (19 September 1890 – 9 August 1939) was a German-born and, from 1936, Dutch banker and art collector who was the director of the Amsterdam branch of the Berlin -based investment bank Mendelssohn & Co. that was for some time the main supporter of the Dutch capital market.
Conocido como el "rey del capital volador", fue uno de los principales organizadores del crédito en la Alemania de posguerra. Su labor financiera internacional le valió reconocimientos, como el de Gran Oficial de la Legión de Honor. In 1952 the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam was vastly enriched with 1400 objects from the estate of the Amsterdam Jewish banker Dr Fritz Mannheimer (1890-1939). During his years in Amsterdam as a banker, from 1916 to 1939, Mannheimer purchased 3000 high quality objects of applied art and fine art.
Margarethe and Franz Oppenheimer tried to take their treasured collection of porcelain with them when they fled the Nazis. However, under great financial pressure due to the persecution, in 1937 they decided to sell part of it to the Amsterdam collector Fritz Mannheimer. It was through him that the collection came to the Rijksmuseum.
