The Box Tops released three albums over a nine-month period from late 1967 to mid 1968. Some of the group's instrumental tracks were performed by session musicians like Reggie Young , Tommy Cogbill , Gene Chrisman , and Bobby Womack at American Sound Studio .

It was released on Bell Records. The album was recorded at American Sound Studio, in Memphis, Tennessee between May and June 1967. The album is well-known for its leading single, “The Letter,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained on the chart for a total of 13 weeks.
This 2 CD set has the four original albums by The Box Tops (TBT) from 1967-69 on the Bell label, plus several (mono) tracks from the same period. The sound is pretty clean without discernible compression. There's a 10 page booklet with notes from Keith Glass along with some period photos of the band.
