Yeah, Jerry Reed wrote and played that song. Elvis covered it. As the story goes Elvis was trying to record it and couldn't get the sound right. And Jerry said "of course not because I'm the only one who can play it" (paraphrase) and he played on Elvis' recording of the song. My personal favorite Jerry Reed song: Preacher and the Bear

But it was the release of his Country Tech instruction video in January 1992 which had really got tongues wagging among the guitar playing community.
