In the World: From Natchez to New York is the solo debut album by the jazz cornetist Olu Dara, released in 1998. Dara also sings and plays guitar on the album. The album peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz Albums chart.

OLU DARA: I was just a guy who sang, not in the shower, but I'm a couch singer very quietly to myself when I'm playing the guitar or whatever. Or I would call myself a mental singer. I would sing to myself in my mind all the time. I never uttered a sound of hardly any volume up until I started playing with my band.
