Preview. Dave Alvin’s first solo album, from 1987, is a family affair, bringing together many leaders of the roots-rock scene that birthed his style. David Hidalgo from Los Lobos appears, as do X guitarist Tony Gilkyson, country songbird Katy Moffat, and drummer Jerry Angel.
27 de mar. de 2001 · If Alvin was still getting his sea legs as a vocalist on Romeo's Escape, his emotional conviction and intelligent phrasing outweigh his somewhat limited range, and he's rarely rocked harder in the studio (with Tony Gilkyson, Greg Leisz, and David Hidalgo helping to kick up some dust in his backing band).

Gilkyson is a former member of Lone Justice. He was member of the band X from 1986 to 1995 where he replaced Billy Zoom after his departure and played on two studio albums ( See How We Are and Hey Zeus!) and two live albums ( Live at the Whiskey a Go-Go and Unclogged ).
