Trotsky Icepick is an American indie rock band, their name referring to Leon Trotsky and his assassination. From 1983 through 1994 the band released six albums, all on SST Records. Trotsky Icepick continues to release records into the 2020s on Poison Summer Records.

He was a central figure in the 1905 Revolution, [3] October Revolution, Russian Civil War, and establishment of the Soviet Union.

It has been playing regularly in the LA area, sharing bills with such contemporary luminaries as TRAPS PS, SHARK TOYS, the perennial MEAT PUPPETS, PLASTICSOUL, MIKE WATT, BIKOS, THE LAST, FRANKLIN BRUNO, THE MOLOCHS and THE DIME BOX BAND.

Named for the murder weapon used to kill Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky, the band's first release Poison Summer came under the name Danny and the Doorknobs. Trotsky Icepick released seven albums in an eight-year span; the first two on Vitus Mataré's label, Old Scratch Grammophon, five on Greg Ginn 's label, SST Records .
