  1. Philip Sutton RA (born 20 October 1928) [1] is a British artist active since the 1950s, best known for his large and highly coloured paintings of landscape, flowers and people. Early life. Philip Sutton was born in Poole, Dorset, in 1928 but grew up in Leyton, Essex (now East London ).

  2. Philip Sutton studied under William Coldstream at the Slade School of Fine Art, London from 1948 to 1953. He won the Summer Composition Prize and travelled to Spain, France and Italy on scholarships before returning to teach at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1954 to 1963.
