Eat, a London band led by singer Ange Dolittle, started out as a band devoted to the sound of Louisiana (Creedence Clearwater Revival, voodoobilly, blues, and so forth). The sprightly cauldron of the album Sell Me A God (Fiction, 1989) was fascinating but a little confusing. Due to Dolittle's addiction, Eat disbanded and took a while to reform.
