5 de nov. de 2000 · Jimmie Davis rose to prominence in the 1930s with a smooth vocal style that helped popularize country music far beyond its original rural southern audience. In many ways, his music was a harbinger of Eddy Arnold’s broadly accessible style.
Davis was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1972, the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1997 and The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
Full name: James Houston Davis. Popular recording artist during the late 1930s-early 1940s. Best known for his composition “You Are My Sunshine,” which has been recorded by over 350 artists. Member, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Member, Country Music Hall of Fame®.
