Lucien Lelong (1889 – 1958) is a French fashion (haute couture) designer. His “golden age” was the era from the 1920s to the 1940s. His contemporaries were Chanel, Worth, Patou, Lanvin and Schiaparelli. Lucien Lelong was born in Paris in 1889 and learned the bases of fashion and textile business from his father, a textile shop owner.

Lucien Lelong was young, bright, and full of new ideas, and his work was soon featured in leading French fashion magazines. By 1925, he employed nearly 3,000 people—double that of most other prominent couturiers. That same year, Lelong introduced his concept of “kinetic” clothing.
