Scarlotti renamed himself Blacklash, and went back to the Maggia as a freelance mercenary to look for an assignment. The Maggia contracted Blacklash for a job, but despite his new arsenal, he was soundly defeated by Iron Man before he could complete it. After losing custody of his son, Scarlotti reverted to his older ways as Whiplash.

Whiplash, also sometimes called Blacklash, is a major antagonist in Marvel Comics. He (or she; depending on the iteration) is a supervillain who utilizes whips and other tools to perform crimes. Although the character has had numerous iterations, he serves as the secondary antagonist of Iron Man franchise, as well as an enemy to other heroes such as Spider-Man and the X-Men.
