Z.Z. Hill. His alias / stage name was a homage to B.B. King. Pronounced Zee Zee Hill, he was an American blues and soul singer, born 30th September 1935 in Naples, Texas, U.S.A., died 27th April 1984. On the 23rd April 1984, he gave his last performance, at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas.

Texas-born singer Z.Z. Hill managed to resuscitate both his own semi-flagging career and the entire blues genre when he signed on to Malaco Records and growled his way through the uncompromising blues of his 1982 album Down Home. His debut single, the gutsy shuffle "You Were Wrong," showed up on Billboard's pop chart for a week in 1964.
