Brand X were a British jazz fusion band formed in London in 1974. They were active until 1980, followed by a reformation between 1992 and 1999, and were active following a 2016 reunion until 2021. While Brand X appeared to have been tossed onto the scrapheap, they became one of those bands whose life was artificially extended as vinyl gave way to CD in the mid-80s onwards and their back catalogue was recycled via ‘Compact Price’ campaigns and the ‘Introduction To…’ reissue programme.
