Moldova debuted at Eurovision in 2005 and has participated every year since, however they failed to qualify for the finals in 2008. As evidenced by the timing of the Moldova Foundation articles, Epic Sax Guy began to spread in the beginning of June 2010, shortly after SunStroke Project's performance on May 25th at Eurovision.
Sunstroke Project incorporate violin, saxophone and dance music. In 2010 the group represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest, alongside Olia Tira. Epic Sax Guy (real name Sergey Igorevich Stepanov) became famous when Sunstroke Project & Olia Tira represented Moldova at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with their song Run Away. He later returned to the Contest in 2017 with Sunstroke Project to compete with Hey Mamma, delivering a third place finish - their most successful entry so far.
