Bob Geldof. Robert Frederick Zenon Geldof, KBE ( / ˈɡɛldɒf /; [1] born 5 October 1951) is an Irish singer, songwriter, and political activist. He was born in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin. Geldof is a member of the band the Boomtown Rats. He also helped to organise the Live Aid and Live 8 events, and to form the Band Aid charity group.
