Bootsy? Player of the Year is the third album by the American funk band Bootsy's Rubber Band.The album was released on Warner Bros. Records on January 20, 1978. At the height of the album's popularity, it competed head to head with Bootsy Collins' mentor George Clinton and his band Parliament, who had released the album Funkentelechy Vs. the Placebo Syndrome just two months earlier.

Bootsy's second album is widely considered his best: the Motherpage gives it five-star ratings. Similar to most of Bootsy's other work, it is divided between dance tracks and slow jams. The song "The Pinocchio Theory" inspired the George Clinton creation Sir Nose D'voidoffunk (see P-Funk mythology: the song says if you fake the funk, your nose will grow, and Sir Nose fakes the funk).
Back in the Day: The Best of Bootsy is a 1994 greatest hits compilation by Parliament-Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins. The album was released on the Warner Bros. Archives label. The album compiles all of the hit singles produced and performed by Bootsy Collins during the years 1976 to 1982, with the exception of the singles released from the album The One Giveth, the Count Taketh Away .

Bootsy Collins, sur les conseils du futur membre de The Parliaments, Mallia Franklin (en), déménagea à Détroit. Mallia Franklin présenta les frères Collins à George Clinton et ils rejoignirent le groupe Funkadelic.
