Cecil Day Lewis was an Irish poet and writer, later Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom. He is most remembered today for his own lyric poetry, his detective fiction written under the pseudonym Nicholas Blake, and for being the father of actor Daniel Day-Lewis.

Cecil Day-Lewis. Cecil Day-Lewis CBE (* 27. April 1904 in Ballintubber, County Laois, Irland; † 22. Mai 1972 in London) war ein irisch- britischer Schriftsteller und Dichter, der zunächst sozialkritische Prosa schrieb und später Hofdichter wurde. Von 1935 bis 1966 schrieb er unter dem Pseudonym Nicholas Blake eine Reihe von Kriminalromanen.
