Sommersby is probably Danny Elfman's most popular score for those with just a passing interest in his music or otherwise aren't die-hard enthusiasts (yes, there are some people like that). It probably has to do with the fact that Sommersby is curiously un-Elfman like in many aspects -- but to folks who know his music well, the Elfman-ish elements are evident.

How many people can point out Danny Elfman out from of the mass populas, when he's not doing Danny Elfman stuff? It is perhaps a weird question but if you ever listened to Sommersby, you'll understand why I'm asking this.It is not only a score that sounds completely non Elfman like, it also captures musical material one wouldn't place alongside Elfman back in those days.
