Sly and the Family Stone est un groupe de musique américain originaire de San Francisco pratiquant un mélange de funk, soul, rock et musique psychédélique. Sylvester Stewart was born the second of five children (Loretta, Sylvester, Freddie, Rose, and Vaetta, known as Vet) in Denton, Texas, on March 15, 1944.
A Sly and the Family Stone tribute took place at the 2006 Grammy Awards on February 8, 2006, at which Stone gave his first live musical performance since 1987.
