In 1986 regisseerde David Byrne zijn eerste film, True Stories genaamd. De Talking Heads namen de soundtrack voor hun rekening en brachten die onder dezelfde naam als de film uit. Zowel de film als het album vonden geen genade bij de critici. De groep Radiohead is vernoemd naar het nummer Radio head op deze plaat.

1 de oct. de 2009 · Often cited as a weak album but to me, True Stories is Talking Heads at their absolute best. The 1986 film of the same title directed by David Byrne had originally the actors perform the songs and a separate soundtrack album was released to accompany it but the rest of the Talking Heads insisted that they record an album of them playing the songs.
