Its fame lies mainly in the fact that from there and its surroundings, tourists can get the dreamed-of classic photo with the Inca citadel in the background.
From its commanding high position in the south of the citadel, it is one of the best places for panoramic views of Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu and surrounding mountains. Compared to other buildings within the citadel, The Guard House is not an overly impressive structure but due to the photographic opportunities afforded from the building, it is a must visit for anyone visiting Machu Picchu.
