Elämäkerta. Lars von Trier valmistui vuonna 1983 kööpenhaminalaisesta Den Danske Filmskole -elokuvakoulusta. Von Trierin opiskeluaikaisiin töihin lukeutuvat elokuvat Nocture ( lyhytelokuva, 1980) ja Befrielsesbilleder (1982). Molemmat elokuvat voittivat parhaan elokuvan palkinnon Filmfest München -elokuvajuhlilla vuonna 1984.
