Jeff listens to so much music that he and his wife, Randi, rent a storage space for the hundreds (maybe thousands) of his CDs. No kidding. Jeff and I have written two songs on the CD Back Around: the title song, of course, and "Delta Jubilee."
19 de jul. de 2013 · Keith Godchaux, pianist of the Grateful Dead from 1971 through early 1979, would have been 65 years old today. I never had the pleasure of meeting him -although I came very close to it- met his wife, and had many occasions to be in close proximity during concerts by both the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band.

The album was the first to include pianist Keith Godchaux and his wife, vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux, and the last to feature founding member Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, who died shortly after its release. The European tour was expensive and logistically complicated, and the band's record company hoped that a live album would recoup its costs.

26 de jun. de 2013 · Offstage, Keith and Donna Jean Godchaux were an increasingly volatile couple. Donna Jean was, in her words, “no angel,” and was regularly using cocaine and drinking wine.
And after playing with Garcia and then the complete band -- it turned out to be so. Keith was brilliant for the first three years or so he was in the band, but he was sensitive and prone to depression, and the road ate him alive. Eventually, he and Donna left the band in 1979. A year later, Keith died as the result of a car accident.
