Wright verenigde in 1987 weer met Pink Floyd, nadat Gilmour en Mason de band nieuw leven ingeblazen hadden, tijdens de opname van A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Hij had geen bijdrage in de songs van dat album, maar de tour die daarop volgde speelde hij wel als toetsenist mee, een tour die beschreven word als één der grootste spectakels allertijden, op muziekgebied.
