Veedon Fleece est le huitième album studio de Van Morrison sorti en octobre 1974. Le chanteur natif de Belfast s'est durablement exilé aux États-Unis dès l'âge de vingt-et-un ans, cédant dans un premier temps à la volonté de son producteur Bert Berns afin de lancer sa carrière solo, puis à celle de l'américaine Janet Planet qu'il a épousée un peu plus tard.

1 de dic. de 2014 · Veedon Fleece. In 1973, Van Morrison was experiencing the same things he felt the first time he escaped to the U.S. to make a go at striking it big. In 1968, Astral Weeks was the culmination in sound and spirit of those feelings he felt being so far away from home.
"Veedon Fleece" erschien 1974 und steht in der Hörergunst oft weit hinter den Alben Astral Weeks", "Moondance", "It's Too Late to Stop Now" oder "Avalon Sunset". Diese Einschätzung teile ich nicht, zumal meinem Erachten Van Morrison kein richtig schlechtes Album herausgebracht. jedes der Alben in der passenden Stimmung zieht mich in den Bann.

Había inciado ese camino en 1968 con Astral Weeks. Y retoma el trayecto en 1974 con este nuevo y revelador trabajo. Sus letras, su música, su voz, son fruto del cambio que está viviendo.
