He was a British sailor and polar explorer and participated in the Nimrod expedition from 1907 to 1909 led by Ernest Shackleton. When war broke out again with the Jacobite Rising of 1745, Aeneas MacKintosh, his clan’s chief, hesitated to take up the rebel cause although most of his clansmen were Jacobites. Aeneas Lionel Acton Mackintosh ( 1. juuli 1879 – 8. mai 1916) oli briti Antarktika -uurija ja Briti Kaubalaevastiku ohvitser. Ta juhtis aastatel 1914–1917 Ernest Shackletoni Endurance'i ekspeditsioonil Rossi mere rühma. Rossi mere rühmal ülesanne oli Shackeltoni retke üle Antarktise mandri selle viimastes etappides varustada.
