Max Middleton. Max started taking piano lessons with a neighborhood teacher at age 14 after his mother bought him a piano. One of his school teachers brought in records by Ray Charles and Thelonius Monk which were eye-openers for Max. He didn’t even own a record player, so his father borrowed one from somebody at work.

He was self-taught in the millwrights business and highly respected for his integrity and professional standards. Max was appointed to the Hereford City Council in May of 2010 to fulfill the unexpired term of Wayne Winget.
Max Middleton enjoyed a long and highly acclaimed career as a professional artist, exhibiting in 68 exhibitions over 66 years. He died in 2013.Max had a great interest in the Australian landscape. As an en plein air painter, he faithfully rendered what he saw. He had an extraordinary ability to capture light on canvas.
