He was just 21 during two concurrent recording sessions that planted him at the center of then-West Germany’s cultural history. Rother was, briefly, a member of Kraftwerk in 1971 alongside multi-instrumentalist Florian Schneider and drummer Klaus Dinger.

Since the official re-release of the NEU! albums in 2001, Rother has toured the globe and collaborated with numerous musicians and bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Paul Weller, as well as writing film scores for two feature films.
