Son sérieux et sa gravité assumés, revendiqués même, frôlent parfois l’emphase : on se serait bien passé par exemple de cette musique stridente qui vient souligner un malaise que Trey Edward Shults sait distiller avec très peu de moyens, très peu d’effets…

Two people are ambushed and the attackers are shot and killed. One is beaten and shot while winded and unarmed. A man is shot in the side. Opening scene shows a granfather covered in a myster rash sickness being covered by a pillow to the face and shot in the head then wheelbarrowed out thrown in a ditch and set ablaze in front of the grandson.
