Nicolas Cage (de son vrai nom Nicolas Kim Coppola) est issu d'une famille d' artistes d'origines italienne, polonaise et allemande. Il prend le nom de Cage, en référence au super-héros Luke Cage dont il est un fan. Il est l'arrière petit-fils d'immigrés italiens venus de la province de Matera ( Basilicate ).
